Family Time

This past week we traveled to Jackson, Al to visit with my family there and for David to do a little turkey hunting.

We stay at the camp on the river. We had the pleasure of having Pop (Owen's great-grandfather) come and join us in the mornings for breakfast.

Owen and Pop are good buddies. Pop knows just what to do to get a smile or laugh out of that boy.

We even got to hear a few turkey tales from Pop from his earlier years. Pop always has a good story to tell.

These hands have done alot of hard work in their 93 years. Think of all the logging, gardening, hunting, fishing, he has done in his lifetime. And now they get to hold his great-grandson.

So glad these two are getting to know each other. Pop LOVES this boy.

We also got to visit with my Aunt Lynda.  It was a treat to go out to her house and visit with her. She even snuck Owen a few bites of vanilla ice cream that I know someone else would have done had he been with us.

Owen finished out the trip by snuggling up with his Great-Grandmama. I couldn't believe he just fell asleep sitting with her. This did more good for her body and soul than any prescription from the doctor could. They both got a good little nap in.

We enjoyed our visit to Jackson, we were actually there when the terrible storms hit Northern Alabama. This past week has been a rough one for our state. The tornadoes that hit Alabama last week left a devastating impact on Tuscaloosa, parts of Birmingham and northern Alabama. You can't help but to think about the things that really matter. The material goods can't be taken with you when you leave this earth.  We are continuing to pray for everyone who was affected by the terrible storm. People lost everything, their homes, personal items, and family members. We hope that God will shine through this devastation and people will be brought closer to Him.

Our little family is continuing to get some more family time in Greenville until power is restored to Huntsville.

  1. What a special post. My favorite is Pop and Owen's hands. I know Owen brings such joy and delight to his great grandparents! David has been over here tonight..eating Chili made by Steven! We are enjoying catching up with him, but MISS you two!!

  2. So glad yall have been able to spend some time with your family. I just LOVE the picture of Owen's and Pop's hands together...absolutely priceless. Comparing a lifetime of hard work and experience with such childlike innocence and "newness" gives me goosebumps.

Thanks for checking in on me. I know I wasn't there when the tornado hit, but it's so hard seeing your hometown like that.

Hope you have a great weekend, friend!
