first Auburn game

We took Owen and Reid their first Auburn game at the beginning of October. It was Homecoming for Auburn and we were able to meet up with some dear friends and Caroline who is a Junior this year.

We took the kids to Tiger Walk

Owen and Elizabeth who are both 5

Owen with Elizabeth and her brother Charlie

We visited with the Bobos and then ran into Steven inside the stadium!

We had a good time and even made it until halftime!

Sweet Baby Reid slept through most of his first Auburn experience.

time at Gammy's and a first

We always wind up at Gammy's house. It just happens that way and it has always been that way. We would got there after school, drop by for lunch, take dinner over, or just go hang out with them. It's a happy homey place.

I also recognize the fact that I am so blessed to have amazingly active and healthy grandparents that don't seem to age. They jump right in with their great grandchildren and are happy to hold a baby

or build a train track.

One night after dinner, we were all just hanging out at Gammy's.

Meme was talking with Collin (which he loves).

And he just rolled on over…

I don't know what it is about Gammy's house. Owen rolled over in almost that same spot when he was 2 months old.

She loves them. Just like she loved us.

Gammy is so good, I really don't know how she does it. She actively takes care of us all, plays trains, cars, finds snacks for Owen, is so attentive…just like she did with us.

Everyone enjoys their time at Gammy's.

1st day of preschool

Today was Owen's first day of Preschool at Harris Creek.

He is in the preschool 3 class. His teachers are Ms. Gail and Ms. Jessica. He will go two days a week from 9 until 2. We are excited about the fun year he will have!

first movie

Last Wednesday, after David woke up from his nap after the previous 24 hour call he had worked...we took Owen to his first movie at a movie theatre.

I really do not know who was more excited about this, David or Owen?

We had talked about it all week. Owen was ecstatic about getting popcorn. So being the good Daddy he is, David got Owen the biggest popcorn in the place. Owen was so proud.

He carried that bucket all the way to the theatre and held it the majority of the movie...eating more than his share! Owen did well during the movie. We saw Monsters University. We ended up leaving towards the end of the movie, but I considered this a big success.

I think my boys have big plans for going to see Disney's Planes in a few weeks.

our week in a nutshell

So we have ventured into the world of potty training. Yes, we just jumped on in and actually Owen is doing really well with it. Of course we had had some accidents, but way more successes than accidents.

Between big boy underpants and potty treats...we are all in.

I think the highlight of Owen's week was this fall sensory bucket we made. Who knew a little corn, rice , acorns, fake pumpkins, animals and of course tractors...could keep a child so entertained!

It has been his favorite activity of the week and we can work on lots of concepts, language skills, vocab, etc.

We ended our week making Pioneer Woman's monkey muffins and picking our last cucumbers.

We are getting our little garden ready for fall, more on that to come!

first trim

So we bit the bullet today, and got Little Bit's hair cut or trimmed... as I prefer to think of it.

It was by far much harder on this Mama than on Owen.

But it was time. Those sweet little curls weren't really curling anymore. Owen did great....

What kid wouldn't want to sit in a red airplane and watch a movie for a couple of minutes.

Because that is all it took, a matter of minutes...

and that sweet baby of mine looked more like a boy than a baby...

one handsome little boy at that.

Owen's First Birthday Video

We are lucky to have such a talented Uncle Brian, who was generous enough to film and put together a video of Owen's first birthday. It was a special day that we shared with grandparents, great-grandparents and dear friends. Fun to look back and see how much Owen has changed too in the past five months since he turned one.

If you have any friends looking for a wedding videographer in the Nashville area...Brian is your guy.

We are lucky enough to have him for birthdays too!

Check out the video and his talents here.

Thanks again Uncle Brian, we will treasure this for years to come!

Visiting the Pumpkin Patch

Monday we finally made it to Tate Farms to visit the pumpkin patch. We attempted this trip the week before, and ended up with a broken down car on the side of the road. Then Little Bit got a double ear infection. But we made it there with our best buds....and boy did we have a great time!

The boys were all about the animals!

Owen was sure the pigs were a little chilly in the 90 degree weather, so there was only one thing to do...

cover them with hay of course!

But the goats...the goats, may have been his favorite.

There was a sheep to pet

and baby chickens to watch.

Next, time to slide down the big slide. I think Owen's face says it all.

We played in the cotton

 and in the corn.

Then it was pumpkin picking time!

Owen walked up to this pumpkin first thing and laid his claim on it. It now sits on our front porch.

 The farm was beautiful.

And these little boys were pretty handsome in their little overalls.

So glad we could make this trip with our friends. I think we had talked about it since before they were born : )

Glad Daddy could go with us too since he will be doing a little traveling himself very soon.

All of the pumpkin picking was hard work...

but we made our final selection

weighed everything and everyone we were taking home

and called it one successful trip to the pumpkin patch!
