Meme's visit

While Daddy was away in Colorado Meme flew to Waco to help out around the house with my crazy crew.

We took her to some of our favorite spots in Waco including Freddy's, Chuy's, Schmaltz's and Katie's Frozen Custard.

We visited Chip and JoJo's store Magnolia market.

Collin grew 2 teeth.

Owen built this Lego all by himself.

There is no denying that my boys are smitten for their Meme. We wouldn't have made it easily without her, so thankful for her coming to be with us!

lifegroup egg hunt

Saturday we got together with some families in our life group for an egg hunt with the kids.

But before we began, Ms. Rachel went through the Resurrection eggs with the kids so we could remember the real meaning of Easter.

Collin napped during this egg hunt as well.

And then they were off!

perfect day for an egg hunt

They even broke out the confetti eggs,

literally.

Next to our egg hunt was a gorgeous field just covered in bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush.

We couldn't resist a couple of pictures with Meme.

A great ending to a Texas Easter egg hunt.

a little Meme love

While we bounce around from house to house, friends to family…Meme's remains home base.

She got a new waffle maker this trip and spoiled us with homemade waffles. Owen likes his served with lots of syrup and a little waffle.

She is often behind the scenes, helping us get ready, entertaining Owen or rocking Collin.

Helping us find missing shoes and find clean laundry.

She is always super supportive of our crazy plans when we try to squeeze everything and everyone in a small amount of time and does whatever she can to try to make things easier.

And sometimes late at night, when everyone has fallen asleep but us…we steal a little time just to chat. Just us. I am so lucky to have a mom that I can call my friend. I love sharing life with her and I love those quiet moments when we can just talk and connect. She is a beautiful person.

And my kids sure do love her too.

Thank you Meme

There is no one that can take the place of your mom, especially after you have had a baby.

So thankful that she could be with us the past two weeks. She took care of us all.
She really stepped in and was big help with Owen. I watched them outside as they pretended to be doctors/firemen/policemen, looked for buried treasure and grub worms and she even perfected her pitching skills in a little baseball. That doesn't even touch the hours she spent playing Legos.
She now knows all about Jake and the pirates, Paw Patrol, Peppa Pig, and Team Umizoomi.
She read books and apparently tells the best Fireman/policeman Owen stories at bedtime.

When she wasn't tending to Owen, she was changing diapers, doing laundry or doing dishes.

And soaking up this sweet thing. Don't worry, he did get some Meme time too. They talked and rocked and heard the same sweet lullabies that she sang to Owen as a baby.

Your boys sure do love you Meme, thank you for giving so much of yourself to us the past two weeks.

Meme was here

Meme was here for an entire week last week. To say we all needed a visit from Meme would be an understatement. She is so helpful and so good with Owen. She spoiled us all while she was here and we hated to see her leave…but she will be back as we told Owen!

Those two are big buddies and she played Legos for hours and hours with him. Owen even introduced Baby Jesus to his Lego people.

She helped me get things more organized in the nursery, it's just more fun to nest with your mom.

This sweet boy was practicing being a big brother. He is so excited about all the baby things. He climbed in Collin's bed and told us this is how he would read to him.

David and I even got to spend a little time together. His work schedule is pretty terrible this month, but he had an afternoon off so we went to Salado and enjoyed walking around and doing a little Christmas shopping just the two of us. Much coveted time! We had a great dinner at the Range and just really enjoyed some time just the two of us…doesn't happen often.

I was out running errands one day, and I get this text from my mom:

Owen and I are having a fun time outside fighting dragons and finding treasure.
Take all the time you need.

And that is why I love my mom. Not every Meme fights dragons and makes treasure maps. They had the best time.

She helped me get our tree up, do laundry and was just here to do life with me for a week. We even opened a gift or two since we won't be together on Christmas this year.

Thanks Mama, for taking care of all of us. We are truly blessed to call you ours.

family birthdays

We managed to squeeze in a few birthday celebrations while we were home.

First, for this guy...who would never turn down a birthday celebration, especially his own.

Caroline was home from Auburn that weekend...I still can't believe she is a freshman there. I am pretty sure that was just us. But wait, that is a 3 year old attached to me, so yes we are old.

Owen enjoyed tinkering with some new toys

as well as some old ones.

We even got to celebrate Meme's birthday one night. Owen put the candles on her cake...we had plenty of fire ; )

That porch is a happy place.

Love these two special women so much.
