Don't be fooled. He has not mastered coloring...these crayons went into his mouth after just a few minutes of coloring. But he did get his letter written to Santa : )
I think the biggest change lately to me, is how much he understands. I have started really making an effort to tell him things. When we really got to work on sleeping in his bed at night or quit nursing, I just explained to him that he was a big boy now and can sleep in his bed all by himself, etc. It may sound silly but I really think it helped. They understand more than you think they do.
If you tell him no, he sometimes shakes his head no. Most of the times he stops, but well...he is one (so not always).
His one year molars finally came all the way in this month...all four of them. I think the canines won't be far behind now. Those molars gave him fits. He was like a different baby after those teeth came in.
His communication gets better by the day. He still uses several signs throughout his day. He informs us when he wants to eat by signing, if he wants more, wants to brush his teeth, sees a hat, butterfly, fish and bath. We hear Mama and Dada about a billion times and when Meme recently came to visit. He mastered her name as well. He was all about his Meme, forget Mama and Daddy...he had Meme. So he was set. Made my feel good to know he was so happy and content because this mama and daddy have a trip in January planned and will be our first time leaving our little guy. Other words he says all day long: Tucku, juju, ball, nana, hot, gogur (yogurt), cuku (cookie), bubble, boo (book). He has some more words but those are the ones he uses the most. He can also say, paper, Nana and Papa. He tries to say what you say...so cute.
People have always asked me if Owen was a snuggler. The answer to that would be yes. This baby has been held and snuggled a lot his whole little life. He sleeps in his bed through the whole night most of the time (so we didn't entirely ruin him), but if he wakes up in the middle of the night, we just pile him on in our bed. Since he doesn't nurse anymore, we just have a really good snuggle buddy.
He likes to take naps on the couch. (So does his daddy). We rock a few minutes in his room and he falls asleep then we snuggle on the couch and I put him down to sleep for a few hours. This may sound crazy, but it works for us right now. He mostly takes one nap (about 3hrs) during the day. But some days he still needs a nap in the morning but then takes another in the afternoon if that is the case.
Favorite toys: his cozy coup (ours lives inside)...he goes in and out countless times during the day, likes playing with his little people farm, putting things inside things, cars and trains, loves being outside.
Favorite books right now: Moo and still loves to look at First 100 words
Owen has done so well traveling lately. He has been a trooper traveling for Thanksgiving and residency interviews. He is so much fun and it is a joy to watch him change everyday...and have a little buddy : )
