Collin loves to dress up, especially as a superhero. We went to Target this week and I couldn't resist getting him a batman costume. He loved it and didn't want to take it off. So batman napped on my couch this day.

The Friday before my birthday I had a check up on Baby Boy and it is always a relief and a gift to see him measuring perfectly and moving around. David and the boys began to feel him kick for the first time this weekend as well. 

We took our whole crew out to dinner to celebrate my birthday Saturday night. 

They are their daddy are my biggest gifts!

this week

This week Owen discovered Ninja Turtles

and decided he wanted to be one. 

We also celebrated David's last birthday in his 20's.

Daddy is working nights this week, so while he was sleeping Owen and I set up a birthday party.

Owen wanted to invite all his friends and family, but this year we kept the party small.

With the new found love of ninja turtles, the plates seemed fitting.

Owen made his dad a card and told me just what to write on the inside:

Dear Daddy, 

It's your birthday. 

And you're going to get lots of presents on your birthday and you're going to have a little birthday.

Dear Daddy you are going to work until the sun comes up and then we'll celebrate your birthday. 

All these words for Daddy.

I love you Daddy,

I think every year the birthdays get sweeter.

This makes the 15th year I have celebrated a birthday with this guy. That's over half a lifetime of birthdays.

I love him more than I can express.

So the least I could do was make him a chocolate poundcake.

Silas is one

Owen and I were so excited to be able to attend Silas's first birthday party today! Brittany outdid herself as she always does. 

It was a football themed party and she had all of your favorite tailgating dips and taco soup, perfect for football season.

And then there was the cake:

Brittany never ceases to amaze me with her cake making skills! I mean really? I am always so impressed that she can just whip a birthday cake up. She could really go into business.

Instead of gifts for the birthday boy, they asked that friends donate to Water4. Such a neat organization that some of Brittany's friends are involved in.  Water4 is dedicated to eradicating the global water crisis. They do this through a business-based approach at the village level that puts the solution in the hands of the people who need it the most.

family birthdays

We managed to squeeze in a few birthday celebrations while we were home. 

First, for this guy...who would never turn down a birthday celebration, especially his own.

Caroline was home from Auburn that weekend...I still can't believe she is a freshman there. I am pretty sure that was just us. But wait, that is a 3 year old attached to me, so yes we are old. 

Owen enjoyed tinkering with some new toys

as well as some old ones. 

We even got to celebrate Meme's birthday one night. Owen put the candles on her cake...we had plenty of fire ; )

That porch is a happy place.

Daddy's Birthday

We celebrated David's 28th birthday Tuesday. 

 Owen knows one thing about birthdays...they involve cake.

He talked about Daddy's birthday cake all day long, and finally it was time for the cake...although he might have found some green icing before we blew out candles ; )

Daddy requested coconut cake...so thanks to H E B, we made that happen.

David said it was the best coconut cake he ever had! Score for Texas.

Cake was followed by a birthday present,

...and he was was genuinely surprised.

A remote controlled helicopter.

You are thinking, she got that for David? Yes. I got that for David.

He had mentioned months/years ago that he would love to have one, and thought it would be so much fun. And David deserves some fun.

These two boys were enamored with their new toy.

After a few crash landings, Daddy began to get the hang of flying.

Happy birthday to the love of my life, grateful and blessed to call you mine.

Owen's 2nd Birthday Tractor Party!

If you have been around Owen for any given amount of time, you learn one thing very quickly. He loves tractors. It was obvious that a tractor themed party was the only way to go for Owen's second birthday.

We really enjoyed having the party at our new home and being able to host some new friends as well as  some old ones and close family.

My mom and I enjoyed making some bunting banners for decorations. We used pinking sheers and fabric glue this year and it was definitely the easy route to making a banner. Thanks to generous family members we had quite the collection of tractors to decorate with as well.

Instead of bringing gifts to Owen we asked that friends bring books to donate to local girls and boys at the clinic. Our friends did not disappoint and Owen has a basket full of books to take to clinic.

Above the table hung these poofs in both corners.

 Easy to make with tissue paper and pipe cleaners.

A local lady, Mrs. Crumpler, made this delicious cake and we thought she did a great job. Owen LOVED his cake!

She also made these adorable cookies that we used as favors for our guests, that were pretty and delicious!

The menu for the party consisted of BBQ pork sliders (David smoked a boston butt the night before the  party), Grandmama's recipe for pimento cheese sandwiches, cheese puffs, veggies and ranch dip

haystacks, and tiger noodle coleslaw.

We also had spinach dip and Southern Caviar.

Drinks included bottled Orange Crush and water.

A little trick I learned was you can print out your labels (pdf design from Etsy) yourself on photo paper and cover them in clear packaging tape to keep the ink from running due to condensation.

Owen got a little taste before we blew out candles.

Owen loved having his best buddy Sam at his party. These two have been buds since they were born.

There is an undeniable bond they share.

We had lots of new friends come to his party which was such a treat.

And had there been a medical emergency, we had about 8 doctors in attendance : )

But luckily we had an eventful party. Babies played the in the playroom and the bigger boys enjoyed the sandbox and tractors.

We tried to get a good pic of the 3 of us, but somehow that is harder that it sounds

I love our little family of 3 though

and we had so much fun celebrating our little boy.
