first Auburn game

We took Owen and Reid their first Auburn game at the beginning of October. It was Homecoming for Auburn and we were able to meet up with some dear friends and Caroline who is a Junior this year.

We took the kids to Tiger Walk

Owen and Elizabeth who are both 5

We visited with the Bobos and then ran into Steven inside the stadium!

We had a good time and even made it until halftime!

Sweet Baby Reid slept through most of his first Auburn experience.

Iron Bowl

We wanted to document the best Iron Bowl in History. Alabama came to play at Jordan Hare with an 11-0 record. Auburn had one loss earlier in the season to LSU and was entering the game with a 10-1 record. The game was close and Alabama took an early lead. Auburn came back at the end to tie the game and send it to overtime, or at least everyone thought so.

Alabama attempted a last play to win the game but ran out of bounds to stop the clock with 1 second left in the game. The brought in the field goal team to attempt a 56 yard kick to win the game. Chris Carter, #11 caught the ball that fell short of the goal post and ran 109 yards to win the game for the Auburn Tigers! Unbelievable! An iron bowl no one will ever forget.  A college football game that will go down in history with one of the most impressive game winning plays.

The student section poured onto the field to celebrate. Love to see our fan base celebrate with such excitement!

David was on call that night at the hospital and watched most of the game. He caught the ending with one of the intern residents who is from Pennsylvania and became an immediate Auburn fan. He had no choice but to celebrate the victory! Definitely a game we will always remember!!

David even made the video below at the 2:20 mark ; )

Auburn comes to Texas

We have looked forward to Auburn coming to College Station since we moved to Texas.

It was a great time to see some faces we haven't seen in a while, as well as simply be with our Auburn family.

We met up with some friends that morning.

Henry's parents were so generous to get David tickets for the game.

We then made our way to Tiger Walk

where we ran into these friends.

It was great catching up with Bo and Lindsay. Bo and I have known each other since Kindergarten in Jackson, Al. So to meet up in Texas made my heart happy.

Then came the buses! The Auburn family represented well.

We made our way around campus and just couldn't squeeze in all we wanted to.

Then it was time for these guys to head into the game.

And what a game it was! Our Auburn Tigers made us proud and I know it was a game these guys will always remember!

soaking in the plains

So, as I mentioned we went to Auburn this past weekend. We had one main goal: soak in as much of Auburn as we possibly could. Because let's face it, it will most likely be a while before we are back on the plains.

So what does soaking in Auburn look like?

breakfast at Big Blue Bagel (sun dried tomato basil and veggie cream cheese)

Toomer's Corner

playing on Samford Lawn

Seeing where Mama spent lots of time learning to be a speech-pathologist/amazing stay at home mom

lunch at the original Mama Goldberg's

with one of our favorite families.

Owen with his buddies, Blake and Kate...

We hit up some of our favorite restaurants like Amersterdams

We made sure Owen got a taste of the famous Toomer's lemonade.

Daddy even shared his chocolate sundae.

The Heisman statues of Cam Newton, Bo Jackson and Pat Sullivan were also enveiled this weekend.

But our original reason for making one more trip to Auburn

was a retirement luncheon for this special man.

Dr. Wit was one of David's favorite professors and mentors at Auburn throughout his 4 years in COSAM (College of Science and Mathematics).

He has been very influential in David's path to medicine. He is a large part of the reason we will have a doctor in the family in the upcoming month.

We were happy to celebrate the impact he has had on so many students in COSAM. Ty even made him a potato gun to commemorate this special occasion. It was a special day, a special weekend and we definitely felt we soaked in the plains.

a Varsity Tale

This past weekend we ventured to Auburn and were lucky enough to spend a night with my friend Krisan, her husband Casey, and sweet puppy dogs...Jasper and Maggie.

Maggie (above) is Krisan's new puppy. Owen fell hard for Maggie, but even harder for Krisan. These two made an instant connection and Owen is pretty sure he has made a new best friend.

It was fun to be back in Auburn. It was fun to be there with David and our son. It was also fun to think back and reminisce of when we were there (do we sound old yet?). So let me share a few stories.

Krisan and I were in the same pledge class in ADPi. We both lived in Lupton Hall freshman year in the quad.

I can remember sitting in the lobby of Lupton stressing out about that upcoming summer. I had decided to stay in Auburn and take classes, but had no clue where I would live, who I could live with, and so on.

Krisan came to my rescue and she happened to be looking for a roommate that summer. God worked it out perfectly.

After living in Berta Dunn (the ADPI dorm) we came back together as roommates my last year in Auburn.

She was there the night I came home after getting engaged to David, she listened to all my wedding plan hoopla...

She was always a rational, kind voice when I needed it. She taught me more lessons that I am sure she realizes just by being herself.

The year after I left and went to Montevallo, David and Ryan Burton moved in above her. So she didn't get rid of us all too easily. She was a big part of our life at Auburn. David even has quite the special relationship with her dog, Jasper : ) Krisan and her husband, Casey are now both practicing pharmacists. David is about to be a doctor himself. Life sure has changed since our days in Lupton Hall and the Varsity Condos. One thing that stays true...God works things out perfectly and in his timing.
