king cake

It's that time of year again...time for King Cake!

Mrs. Hixon mailed us one of the famous Randazzo King Cakes straight to our front door.

David had worked the previous night, so when he and Owen both woke up from their nap, they had a fun surprise in store.

Mrs. Hixon is so thoughtful to include some great prizes in the box.

But I think Owen knew what the best prize was.

Owen found the baby last year. This year it was in Mama's piece.

Owen apparently decided the baby needed to stay IN the cake.

He loved the bouncy light-up balls.

I think these King Cakes are becoming an annual tradition. I told David we could invite some friends over to have King Cake, but he was quick to inform me we would not be sharing! Oh my...there is no doubt my boys are big fans.

You can check Owen's first king cake here.

king cake

Owen got a very special surprise in the mail this week. Dr. and Mrs. Hixon sent Owen his very own King Cake!

We are good friends with their son, Brian who is one of David's classmates and one of Owen's favorite new babysitters : )

Owen couldn't wait to open the box and inside he found some special treasures...

Mrs. Hixon thought of everything

Mardi Gras beads and even a ball for Owen to play with, but most importantly...

"cake"

Owen clearly could not wait to taste it

 or dive in.

So mama quickly got to cutting

so this little guy could try his first bite of King Cake.

And just by chance, guess whose piece had the baby inside?

Really what are the chances? Owen insisted on "loving the baby"

This truly is the tastiest King Cake you will find.

This is a tradition of Brian's, and it certainly was a treat to join in on this year. Thanks again Dr. and Mrs. Hixon!
