Joy

Today we visited Willowbrook Baptist Church in Huntsville.  http://www.willowbrook.org/ We have visited this church several times before, but today we took a new step and let Little Bit stay in the nursery. This was a much bigger step for Mama than it was for Owen. He did great. The nursery is very nice. He was in the "Ladybug Hollow" room. They have one-on-one care for the little ones, so he was happy and rocked most of the time he was there. They give the parents pagers in case they need you. They also scan your fingerprints for check-in and check-out of the babies to insure their safety.

The church is MUCH bigger than the churches we grew up in. It is more modern but the people are very enthusiastic and fired up about the Lord...which is exciting.

The sermon today was about joy! I think everyone looks for joy in their life. Sometimes we think, "when we have this". "when we are at this place in life", "when such and such happens" then we will be happy. Or "if this person would just do this, then I would have joy in my life." When in fact it is just opposite!

Joy is found when we are pursuing God, when we are obeying Him! Joy is found in being useful...bringing joy to others by helping others. Joy is a consequence of being spiritually grounded.

Such a simple concept, but I know I am guilty of forgetting where true joy comes from sometimes.
