carving pumpkins

Last Sunday afternoon we decided to go ahead and carve our pumpkins.

Owen was really into this activity this year. We had been reading The Pumpkin Patch Parable so he knew just what it would take to turn his pumpkin into a jack-o-lantern.

Collin was there too, he supervised ; )

We cut off the top and scooped the seeds and insides out.

And Owen REALLY wanted to carve his own pumpkin with our pumpkin carving knife…(side note: you should invest in a good pumpkin carving tool. It is worth it year after year.)

We used some chalk to draw triangle eyes and nose and a smile.

He actually did a really good job. His daddy was proud and totally understood his desire to use the knife ; )

Owen is going to be Spiderman for Halloween so we thought a spider pumpkin was fitting this year as well.

Carving pumpkins is one of my favorite traditions in the fall.

As you can see:  2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013.
