Happy Halloween

We thought it would be fun to invite some friends over for some good food and pumpkin carving Friday night to kick off Halloween weekend. The Ashleys and Bobos came over and snacked on apples with caramel dip, hot spinach and artichoke dip and taco soup. Brittany brought pumpkin muffins and Caroline brought pumpkin pie

.

After dinner we dressed up the babies in their Halloween costumes:
Sam is a garden gnome and Owen is a little monster

David and I with our little monster

Ty with his little gnome, he even has a beard : )

Sam is telling Owen that their parents are crazy for dressing them up like this : ) Owen agrees!

Then we got to the pumpkin carving:

It was a little chilly outside

Sam, Brittany and Ty with their jack-o-lantern

putting the finishing touches on the pumpkins

Our family with Owen's first jack-o-lantern

Our little pumpkin with his jack-o-lantern

The finished products glowing proudly

The dads even etched the boys names in the back of the pumpkins

Caroline and Steven showing their Auburn spirit!

The whole group, minus Sam who was already asleep. He goes to bed like normal babies do (unlike our little munchkin) We had such a good time eating and fellowshipping with friends. Hope everyone has a wonderful Halloween weekend!

2 months

Owen is 2 months old! Little Bit is growing and changing everyday. He is talking and playing more and more. He loves to watch his mobile go around and around in his crib and listen to the music. He talks and smiles while he watches it. He also loves to be outside, something about it seems to soothe him.  He enjoys going on strolls, which usually result in him falling asleep. He seems to like songs, having people sing to him. He likes to sit up so he can see instead of laying down like a little baby unless he is really sleepy. He puts his fists in he mouth, but will not take a pacifier...which is ok with me.

At his 2 month check-up he weighed 12 pounds putting him the 50th percentile for weight. He was 24 and 3/4 inches long. Putting him in the 90th percentile for height. He got his first shots...which was not fun. He did fine until about 4 hours later and they hit him. Brittany came to the rescue with Tylenol which really did make him feel better. We did alot of cuddling and snuggling that day.

In other news, he rolled over for the first time last Thursday, October 21st! His Great-Grandpapa witnessed it with me! He hasn't done it again, but was still fun to see!

he loves to hold his hands this way with his thumb between his fingers

Happy boy!

Fall Break

David finished his family practice rotation about a week ago and really enjoyed it. He had the chance to work with a family physician in Scottsboro and really had a great time. It did help that the guy was a big hunter...so they had lots to talk about besides medicine.

After that rotation, the med students could take a fall break or choose to do scholarly activity. David was able to take the week and work in Greenville with a physician there. That way our family could get to see sweet baby Owen and David could get a chance to see how the hospital works in Greenville.

This is a summary of what we did in Greenville last week:

Owen and Uncle John cheered on the Auburn Tigers! We got to see two great Auburn games while we were home last week.

We made Gammy's Caramel Cake...yum!

played with Nana

smiled a bunch : )

decided that Caroline's hand was pretty tasty

took a nap with his Great Grandpapa

Sarah and Uncle David played hard

found the cutest little monster sitting on a very fun pumpkin

how cute is  that little monmer!

celebrated Great Grandpapa's 83rd birthday!

had a cookout at John and Annette's

who gave Owen the cutest, softest giraffe

cuddled with MeMe alot : )

met Uncle Ben and Millie

met Mama Jean
played with Papa

ate lunch on Gammy's porch

sang songs with Gammy: "Skinnamarink a dink a dink" and "I love you a bushel and a peck"

Packed up and headed back to Huntsville!

It was a packed-full week, but we had lots of fun! Now we will rest up and enjoy Huntsville for a few weeks before we take any more road trips. David now begins his OB/GYN rotation for eight weeks. Life never stops for the Johnsons!

Weekend in Huntsville

We have been on the road the past couple of weekends, so it was nice to be home and enjoy Huntsville. It was a full weekend...but we had lots of fun. Owen got a package in the mail from a friend, we went to art/dog show around the courthouse, watched Auburn football with friends, and had a visit from Kira and Elizabeth! The weekend is better told in pictures:

Our friend, Julie Johnston, made these cute burp cloths for Owen and sent them to us. As you can see, Owen is pretty happy about them! Thanks Julie!

This was one of the booths at the art/dog show downtown

Sam and Owen checking out the booth. They enjoyed riding around in their strollers.

And some other furry friends also enjoyed a ride in their strollers....

Yes, these pups had their own stroller...too funny! And yes, the one on the left has on a blonde wig : )

This little dog was dressed as witch.

Thanks Sam and Brittany for going with us! We even managed to find Cooper and George some treats to bring home since they didn't make it to the dog show this year...maybe next year.

Caroline with Owen cheering on the Tigers

Saturday night, the Bobo's (Caroline and Steven) invited us over to watch the Auburn game and have dinner. They cooked a great meal. Steven smoked some ribs that were falling off the bone! Great flavor! We also got to experience a Selma favorite...chicken roll-ups on the grill (marinated chicken with ham rolled up inside, wrapped in bacon and then grilled...delicious!) Caroline made the perfect accompaniment, mashed potatoes and green beans. Mary Lindsey and Chris Newlin also came for the game and brought some delicious cookies. It was fun to hang out with some Auburn friends and watch the game. Little bit enjoyed meeting some new friends and snuggling with the ladies.

Sunday afternoon, Kira and Baby Elizabeth made a trip to Huntsville to hang out. As you can see, Owen felt quite content and happy in Kira's lap!

David got to hang out with the babies as well. He had his hands full with these little ones!

Owen is telling Elizabeth a secret here

How cute are they

She is really checking him out

So we decided this little Auburn fans might enjoy some time outside laying on a quilt, and they did.

Thanks Kira and Elizabeth for coming to visit us! It made for the perfect end to our weekend. It was a treat having you in Huntsville. Please come back and play again. War Eagle!!
