Some of my favorite posts tend to be the everyday posts. It's what we really do, our normal days.
Right now David is on his second month in the hospital. There are definitely some long days and nights that go hand and hand with that. And thanks to this sweet little man, he is leaving his mama with some long nights as well. We had to give up the swaddling when he could roll over swaddled and now he sleeps on his stomach which is fine. He is strong enough that we aren't worried about it, but he is getting up multiple times a night. He isn't giving me many long stretches, but waking up every hour or two from 1:30 to 6:30. Not cool. It's just for now right? This too shall pass.
At the same time, I need him to slow down a little. He is growing so fast. He really wants to be big, but I am so thankful for this healthy baby. Our hearts are heavy for friends going through difficult seasons and I am reminded that babies are nothing short of miracles.
With the warmer weather, we are spending more and more time outside. We are in that window of beautiful days before it is pure hot.
We planted our garden a couple of weeks ago. We filled our summer garden with some squash, zucchini, peppers, tomatoes, cucumber and a few herbs. We also have a mystery plant. Ty and Brittany gave it to us and I can't remember if it is okra or sunflowers…time will tell ; ) And you are thinking I should know the difference in the two, but I don't!
Our mint is out of control, Owen can pick all he wants of that.
Owen is a ninja turtle…the blue one, Leonardo.
And when he realized that they made Lego ninja turtles, his worlds collided and he was one happy boy. He saved up his money and bought the orange one and the blue was a prize for being super brave at the dentist.
Now he wants the Lego Shredder or Lego Spiderman. We told him he will have to save his money for that, so he is working on doing chores to earn some extra money. I found this chore chart and it is providing a good visual for getting his chores done. His concept of money isn't quite there yet. He gets 5 nickels and thinks that should be enough to buy Spiderman…not quite, Buddy.
I could probably use my own chore chart right now. I think me and the house are always at battle and right now it is winning. But as they say with little ones, "the days are long and the years are short".
A sweet older lady told me this morning to enjoy my boys all I could. So if the house has to win right now, I think I'll let it have it.
