With a new baby in the house, we have tried to spend some special time with Owen as well. David thought he would get him out of the house for a few hours and take him to a local fire station.
The Woodway Fire Station has yellow fire trucks, and we always notice them when we ride by. It is also connected to the police station, so this seemed like a perfect option.
David pulled up to the fire station and helped Owen put on his turnout gear. They walked in and there were not many people inside. David asked if they might be able to look at a fire truck. The receptionist told them to wait a few minutes that she would call someone in. In pulled one of the officers on duty.
The neat thing about the firemen there is they are also trained police officers and paramedics as well. They do it all! Perfect in the eyes of a 3 year old.
The police/fireman was the perfect guy to show Owen around. Come to find out he is a dad to a 3 year old little boy as well. He walked out to the fire trucks and told Owen to pick out which one he would like to take a ride in. Owen of course picked the ladder truck. So in they hopped and took a drive in the firetruck down to a local park.
There Owen helped him raise the ladder.
Below is a video of Owen's fun experience, click arrow to play.
When they got back to the fire station they were able to check out the rest of the fire trucks.
and the turnout gear.
Woodway even has their own tank!
And if it was not enough that our new friend was a police/fireman…he is also the only K9 officer in Woodway. Meet Bo, the police dog.
Our new friend sent Owen home with lots of goodies, even a hat for baby brother too.
Pretty awesome day for Firefighter Owen! And big thanks to the Woodway Fire Department for rolling out the red carpet for our 3 year old!
