We headed out of town this past Friday when Daddy got off work. Though February was technically a short month on the calendar, it seemed to be a long month around here. We were all in need of a little family time/vacation. We stayed at the Doubletree a little outside of Austin, where my boys were greeted with hot chocolate chip cookies. There are few things warm chocolate chip cookies, Duck Dynasty and a little relaxation in a comfy bed can not fix.
Saturday morning, we slept in and then headed downtown to the Texas State Capitol.
We explored a little of the grounds
and then headed down to 6th Street for lunch at the Iron Cactus.
We enjoyed some guacamole made table side, lobster tacos and fish tacos with a mango salsa.
Then we were off to Zilker Park. We had heard about the Zilker Zepher train, and knew that was on our must see and do list.
He was pretty excited about his ticket.
The little train takes you on about a 25 minute ride around park of Zilker Park
providing a great view of the city of Austin.
There was a playground right beside the train. Owen was not about to let us miss it, especially considering they had a fire truck!
Fireman Owen to the rescue.
Before we left Zilker Park, we drove over to the Austin Nature and Science Center.
They had critters to look at
and dinosaur bones to dig up.
Owen went to work digging in the sand.
By that time our little man was pooped. So we took some time and drove around Austin and even took a little drive through the University of Texas campus while Owen napped in the car.
Good thing he napped because there were big things in store at the Salt Lick...which is coming up next.

Thanks for the tour. Can't wait to see what comes next.
