Over the River and Through the Woods

To Grandmama's house we go!

Owen and I packed up and headed down to Jackson, Al to spend a few days with Grandmama and Pop while Daddy studied hard for step 2 of boards. Pop turned 94 on the Fourth of July! We hated to miss his birthday party but continued the celebrating while we were there.

Owen put on quite the show while we were there. He pulled out all of his tricks. "Where's Owen?"

"There he is!"

We went and picked squash and tomatoes from Harold Chastain's garden at his camp.

We had lots of "woods days"

Owen saw all kinds of critters: a big alligator swimming in the river, a raccoon, turkey, armadillo

and even a rat snake! Don't worry not poisonous : )

Pop and Owen are good buddies. Pop likes to pick at his Great-Grandson.

...and Owen likes the attention.

Grandmama absolutely adores her great-grandson.

She is convinced he is a one-of-a-kind brilliant child.

We know she isn't partial : )

And if all of the visiting, vegetable picking, woods riding, animal seeing, reading, and dirt playing doesn't wear a boy out...

I don't know what will.

  2. Sounds like yall had a fabulous time! Owen is so blessed to have generations of family who just think he hung the moon :) I'm proud of you for taking a picture of the snake! I don't mind the non-venomous ones that eat pesky critters, but I would prefer to never see them. Ever!

PS--I just LOVE Owen's tiny little New Balances. So cute!
