35 weeks and counting

(Baby is the size of a honeydew melon)

Went for checkup today. Baby is good. We are measuring on time at 35 weeks and heartbeat sounded good. Will now go every week to check on me and Owen. Time is ticking down. People keep asking us if we are ready. I suppose we are as ready as we are going to be. Nursery is ready, clothes are washed, thank you notes are written. I am not miserable yet...I suppose "yet" could be the key word. When you tell someone you are due in August, they proceed to tell you how MISERABLE you are going to be. I don't know why they do this, it is like it is going to make you feel better by telling you how bad it will be. I do not understand nor appreciate pessimistic attitudes. I may be speaking too soon, but so far so good.Yes, it is warm...it is July in Alabama. It is always warm. I choose to stay in the air conditioner where it is cool : )

Not sure if I mentioned it, but David is doing surgery this rotation. This is the 3rd week of it. This rotation lasts 8 weeks. The first 6, he travels to Decatur to work with a surgeon there and the last 2, he will be with a Cardiothoracic surgeon in Huntsville. During this time he also can take trauma call, which he did tonight. The poor guy woke up at 5 AM this morning, left by 5:30 AM, got home at 5:30 PM, fell asleep til 7:30 when the trauma pager went off...and has been gone ever since. It is now 12:30 AM and still no husband. He seems to be enjoying it though, getting to see alot of different surgeries and getting some hands-on work as well...assisting, suturing, etc. Just a brief update in the life of the Johnsons this week!
