So it became officially official. I am a boy mom.
We kind of thought this baby would be a boy, David and I both had that feeling. And you know, I can recall different conversations, articles I have read, people I have talked to that kind of foreshadowed the opportunity of raising sons.
I remember a lady I met at a church function who had sons telling me, that it's not that God doesn't give you daughters...they just come later in the form of daughter in laws. You can still have the opportunity for those relationships.
You can bet that I am praying for those girls already.
It is such a huge responsibility raising three sons. Three little men to teach how to be kind, how to treat others, how to be courteous, and brave and truthful, to be humble, yet have confidence, how to treat women, how to love, how to win and how to lose. It's huge.
David and I are praying for these young men. We are praying that they love Jesus above all. We are praying for their wives and for their relationship as brothers. We are asking God to give us the wisdom and guidance to teach them as they grow.
I know God picked another son for us because that was the missing piece of our family. He knew what we needed and what would complete us. Each of these boys will be different. They will each have strengths and weaknesses; they will each have areas of sin that they struggle with.
But God picked us to be their mom and dad and these brothers to grow up together. I am excited about the adventures ahead. Exploring the woods together, hunting, fishing, swimming, playing outside, bug catching, lego building, traveling and feeding their growing tummies.
That's one thing I know I can do ; )
Here is a prayer I have prayed with all these boys. I wish I had made a note of who wrote this or from where I copied it....Dear Lord, may this precious one grow to become a man who seeks after You above all earthly things. Who, because he knows You, trusts You, and because he trusts You, loves You with all his heart. And grant me the days to swell that heart with the fullness of this Grandmother's love. Meme loves you boys with all her heart.
