My dad and I began planning for our 2nd trip to Colorado almost a year ago. We didn't have the best experience with the outfitter we previously chose so I researched and called around heavily to make sure we chose someone reputable this time. We knew we wanted to try and go during the rut which meant going during archery season. It's usually a beautiful time of year with mild weather and sometimes the aspens turn their golden yellow in the heat of the rut. We decide to go with Elk Basin Outfitters in Crawford, CO by Bill Allen. We hunted the West Elk Wilderness in Gunnison, Colorado.
We arrived late afternoon and spent the night in the lodge in Crawford, CO before heading out the next morning.

The white elk was no albino. He was quick to correct me. It was a bred white elk with blue eyes taken off the ranch. He also has 3,500 acres of high fenced ranch packed with trophy elk for those seeking a very high priced hunt.
The elk above the gun cabinet was taken up in the mountains near where we hunted

More to come……..
