It has really been a tragic week in our country. First, with the explosions in Boston. When I turned on the news Monday afternoon and saw the chaos, I was in disbelief. I first thought about my friend, Hannah that is in our lifegroup. She had been training and looking forward to this event and I knew she was there. All I could do was pray. We were relieved to find out Hannah was safe. She was in a medical tent being treated for dehydration when the bombs went off. She saw people injured from the explosions and the chaos of those looking for loved ones.
Then Wednesday night, the fertilizer plant exploded in West, Texas 20 miles north of Waco. We could not hear the explosion and saw the first reports of the breaking news at 9:30 that night. It was heartbreaking watching the footage of the explosion and those that lost their loved ones. With 200 injured and at least 50 homes destroyed...it was a huge tragedy. Many of the first responders and fire and rescue lost their life. A nursing home was near the explosion many of those people were hurt and sent to the hospital. It was a huge disaster. David along with most of the other residents, doctors and nurses quickly reported to the hospital to see what they could do to help. In his words, it was pure chaos when he got up to the ER as you can imagine.
I say all of this not to be discouraging, because both were devastatingly tragic. But God was there. He showed up in the first responders, the people that chose to help, the doctors and nurses that cared for those injured and the community that has gathered together to support those suffering. And He will continue to be there.
