The move to Texas

Last Thursday the moving truck arrived in Huntsville to load all our belongings.
We were a little skeptical but Ray and Biscuit assured us it would fit...and it did.

We headed to Greenville to pick up the rest of our crew and say goodbyes. After a little change in the itinerary, the movers said they would arrive in Waco on Monday. So Sunday morning we all set off on our big journey. David with Cooper in the Intrigue (praying it would make it) and Owen, Mama, Meme, and Tucker in the Acadia. David drove straight to Waco, but we decided to break up the trip for this little guy.

(sleeping with his "tractor" truck in hand)

We had lunch in Meridian, Mississippi and made another stop in Vicksburg.

They have a nice guest center with a beautiful view.

And a great area to walk around, it was good for our little traveler to stretch his legs.

We ended our first day of traveling in Shreveport at the La Quinta where Tucker made himself at home.

It was the perfect hotel...pet friendly and a great courtyard area for Owen to run around. We picked up dinner and sat outside so Little Man would not have to be confined any longer.

We set out Monday morning for Waco. Owen should win the rockstar kiddo traveling award. He did great, really he did. We couldn't have done it without plenty of Elmo dvds, snacks, and goodies everyone had packed for Owen. Little man is a trooper though, and we finally arrived to our destination. We even beat the moving van that did not arrive util 4 pm that afternoon....we were just glad it showed up with our things.

Long story...but after a driver change, taking all of items off the original truck and loading it on this moving van, a water line replacement, and a few delays, we were just happy they were here and didn't mind it taking until 9pm to finish unloading.

Needless to say we were all pretty pooped after such a big trip. We are still unpacking and living in a sea of boxes...but we are making progress. We love our new home and are enjoying settling in it. I don't know what I would do without my mom here to help, unpacking with an almost 2 year old is a different ballgame : ) More to come soon, but tonight we rest.

  2. What a great journey! Glad you broke it up for Owen. Tucker cracks me up on the hotel floor!! I am so impressed with you moving with pets AND a toddler! That is amazing in itself to travel that far with them! Happy unpacking! One box at a time and it will eventually get done! It is so fun putting your stuff in a new place! Can't wait to see more pics!
